We are not an "English conversation school"
No.
Not only English skills but also the ability to help students to be active in the world
To be able to leap forward
We offer programs.

In the business world, English proficiency alone is not enough.

As an English teacher for many years, I often hear this complaint: "I've memorized a fair amount of grammar and vocabulary, and I've even taken a few English conversation lessons. But when I go out into the business world, I just can't get my English across."

That's to be expected.
Business English cannot be "used" simply by improving "English ability" such as mastering grammar, vocabulary, and correct pronunciation. Bizmates believes that five elements, including English ability, are necessary to achieve business results in a global environment. It is not limited to "business English" English ability, but also includes the following:Five AbilitiesThe course is designed to help students achieve business results by improving their overall business skills.

Five skills necessary to succeed on the world stage
  1. 1. Language skills

    Basic English skills

  2. 2. Humanity

    Humanity to build trusting relationships

  3. 3. Leadership

Ability to involve others and move things forward

  4. 4. Cross-cultural understanding

A mindset that accepts different cultures and values

  5. 5. Communication

    Effective communication skills

  • Only when all of these are in place can your English be understood in business.
  • However, when it comes to using English in business, attention is focused only on "English ability." As a result, other skills are often overlooked. It's easy to understand if you think about it in Japanese, but being able to speak Japanese does not necessarily mean being able to achieve results at work. Language ability and the skills required for practical work are completely different things.
  • If you want to be able to communicate effectively in business English, you need to hone your global skills in addition to English. And you can acquire these skills by studying business English correctly.

Three principles for effective business English conversation

  • So how can you efficiently master business English that "gets your point across"? At Bizmates, we define ideal business English as "simple, polite, and effective."
  • Imagine greeting someone for the first time.
  • Hika:

Hi, my name is Hika. Nice to meet you.

    Nobuaki:

    Nice to meet you, too.

  • This is not wrong. It can be said to be a simple and polite expression. However, in terms of being effective in business, it seems that it could be improved a little more.

So how can you efficiently master business English that "gets your point across"? At Bizmates, we define ideal business English as "simple, polite, and effective."

Imagine greeting someone for the first time.

Hika:

Hi, my name is Hika. Nice to meet you.

Nobuaki:

Nice to meet you, too.

This is not a mistake.
This expression can be said to be "simple" and "polite." However, in terms of being "effective" in business, it could use a little more thought.

*

Hika:

Hi, my name is Hika. Nice to meet you.

Nobuaki:

Nice to meet you, too, Hika. My name is
Nobuaki.
Please call me Nobu. So, how are you enjoying the event?

Just adding a simple phrase like "Please call me Nobu" or "So, how are you enjoying the event?" makes a much better impression on the other person, doesn't it?

The quickest way to master business English

  • However, business people are busy anyway.
Many people would like to learn effective business English conversation in the shortest possible time.
  • The first thing to keep in mind is to learn English from people with business experience. Only people with business experience can teach the communication and thinking skills necessary for global business. For this reason, Bizmates only employs instructors with business experience. Our staff includes former lawyers, MBA holders, and managers from global companies.
  • "We receive around 2,000 to 3,000 applications per week, and select around a few dozen people through paper tests and interviews.
After training, they are tested again, and ultimately only less than 1% are hired.

  • During the lesson, we not only focus on grammar and pronunciation, but also on whether the lesson is effective for business communication.
I would advise you to do the following:

  • At the end of the Q&A session

    Does that answer your question

Does it answer the intent of your question?

It's more kind and easier to gain trust by adding this.

    When you interrupt someone's conversation

    That’s a great idea! But I think…

    That's a great idea! But I...

If you say this, you're less likely to get into trouble.

Only someone with business experience can give such practical advice.

There's no need to take the long way around, such as memorizing English words you'll never use, relearning grammar from scratch, or taking lots of lessons in everyday English conversation.
